Research notes

Yellow Pages lists it under boot stores, horse equipment and shoe repair, with 32 years in business and a Facebook page as its website. Older directories list the same address and phone as Kearney Shoe Hospital & Saddle (owner Dale Stunkel, est. 1995), apparently its former name. A MapQuest review says boots and shoes are resoled or repaired there and that it sells tack and parts. BBB lists it under leather goods repair, shoe repair and saddles. No prices published.

Research notes

Per a Nov 2025 Phelps County Development Corp. article, Ken Klein moved his leather shop to Holdrege (a former dance studio just west of Nebraskaland Tire) after plans for a Kearney location fell through, aiming to open in December. His main work is repairing saddles and cowboy boots, but he repairs anything leather, including purses and men's and women's shoes, and makes custom belts and cowboy boots. He grew up in the trade (his parents had a store in Lexington, NE) and has done leather repair for about 20 years. BBB lists the shop as Klein's Custom Leather Boot-Shoe-Saddle Repair. The article says to find it on Facebook; no website or prices.
